Basque Newspaper Closed By Martin Schoech July 24, 1998
The Basque newspaper 'Egin' has been closed by Spanish officials earlier this week. They accuse the Egin staff to have to close relations to ETA. 'Egin' jounalists have been used by ETA in order to gather informations about people or places that have been killed or bombed later. There were even secret codes for ETA groups enclosed in the greetings column of Egin. The Egin staff already started a new newspaper - 'Euscadi Informacion' after the closure of 'Egin'.
