Also known as:
The mouthpiece for the Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran, Voice of Iranian Kurdistan promotes independence for the Kurdish region of Iran. Its broadcasts were initially tolerated and perhaps even supported by Iraq between 1973 and 1975. In 1980 as tensions flared into the Iran-Iraq War, the station resumed its broadcasts.
